The good feeling of finding food

Eat, Hang, Work

rice and curry in weligama at ocean tribe restaurant.

Our Ocean Tribe café offers everything from a coffee and a snack, to a full blown dinner. Eat, drink, or just hang out in this breezy space and enjoy the view of the garden. You can also get on the WIFI if you need to get some work done, or plan your next trip.

We serve a mix of Western and Sri Lankan foods. You should definitely explore the variety of Sri Lankan curries. They include amazingly diverse vegetables, meats, fish and papadams, which are made into meals which nourish not only your body, but also your soul. Keep in mind that they do tend to be more on the spicy side.

While some are happy to live on rice and curry, we know that tastes do differ. To accommodate for this, we also serve yummy Western foods such as burgers, fries, fruit platters, and also have plant-based/vegan options to make sure you can always be fed and energized for all the fun adventures you go on.

Our suppliers are the local stores and fishermen, guaranteeing that everything is super fresh.  You want it even fresher? Go for the fruit that grows in our garden: papayas, bananas, mangos, coconuts, and the occasional jackfruit.

Have you met a jackfruit?

You can eat them as a sweet fruit, or as a curry. Both versions are absolutely delightful, and even though the fruit itself looks a tiny bit scary- definitely not something you’d want to pick straight off the tree and take a bite of- we know that beauty comes from the inside, and the same is also true for our jackfruit friend.

Who needs coffee?

We need coffee! Sri Lanka is not exactly known for having an amazing coffee culture. It’s more of a tea country. And although there is such a thing as Sri Lankan coffee, it’s quite different from what you’re probably used to. That doesn’t mean Sri Lankan coffee can’t be delicious, you should definitely give it a try, But… we are more fond of the Italian espresso version. So we went out and got ourselves the best coffee machine we could find.

Long story short. Want a good cup of coffee? We got it!
